The NCAA has announced that the entire 2021 March Madness men’s basketball tournament will be held in Indiana, beginning on March 16, and ending with the National championship game on April 5. Last year’s tournament was called off due to the COVID-19 virus, and the NCAA did not want a repeat.
Ball State, Butler, the Horizon League, Indiana, Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis, and Purdue will host the tournament. The majority of the tournament’s 67 games will take place in Indianapolis.
The NCAA is based in Indianapolis, and the Final Four will be held in the city’s Lucas Oil Stadium.
Here are the key dates:
March 14: March Madness selection Sunday. The 68-team field is revealed.
First Four: March 16-17. Two games featuring the four lowest-rated at-large teams, and two others featuring the four lowest-rated teams overall.
First round: March 18-19. Thirty-two games with the No. 1 seed vs. the No. 16 seed, the No. 2 seed vs. the No. 15 seed, etc.
Second round: March 20-21. The field is cut to 16 teams.
Sweet 16: March 25-26.
Elite Eight: March 27-28.
Final Four: April 3. Two national semi-final games
National championship game: April 5.
