Drake may have faced a tough year, but his impact on music was celebrated in a big way at the 2024 Juno Awards.
While the Toronto rapper was absent from the ceremony in Vancouver, his longtime collaborator Boi-1da made sure he got his flowers. Accepting the International Achievement Award, the Grammy-winning producer praised Drake as “the greatest rapper of all time” and credited him for opening doors in the industry.
Born in Jamaica and raised in Toronto, Boi-1da has been instrumental in shaping Drake’s sound since their early mixtape days. With 19 Grammy nominations under his belt and production credits on major albums like Kendrick Lamar’s To Pimp a Butterfly and Beyoncé’s Renaissance, his contributions to music are undeniable.
Yet, this Juno win marked his first recognition from Canada’s biggest music awards. It was a moment not just for Boi-1da, but for the legacy he and Drake continue to build.
